The Problem: Ministry’s Dark Side Of The Spoon was banned by Kmart due to its cover.
My Take: Not much to say here for a naked fat chick sitting in the corner with a dunce cap. Maybe, Kmart was a little too harsh in banning the album. But, I do like how they use the title as a play on the Pink Floyd album, Dark Side of the Moon, to reference heroin use. Bad and good in a sense.
Ol’ Dirty Bastard: N***a Please
The Problem: Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s N***a Please was required to censor the title with stars.
My Take: Must we use the N-word again?!? Do we really need to? At least this time, ODB has stars over the word. I’ll give him credit there. A little better, but still…
P.O.D.: The Fundamental Elements of Southtown
The Problem: Many Christian stores refused to carry the album due to its surreal cover art, so an alternate cover that was black and featured the band’s name and album title was released for Christian markets.
My Take: Okay, that’s just stupid reason. What’s wrong with having a surreal cover on a Christian rock album? I think it’s artistic! I just think that some people are stupid and blind by religion at times.
