City Lounge: Paris (Book Three, Chapter Thirteen: Sweet Shop Downtown)

Chapter Thirteen: Sweet Shop Downtown:

“We have one more place to go,” Simone told me after dinner.

“And where would that be?” I asked. She turned to me with a smile on her face.

“Mama’s favorite sweet shop down here,” my love said. “Jean-Paul Hévin!”

“Jean… what?” I asked. My girl giggled.

“Come along and you will see,” she said. I smiled and shrugged.

“Okay,” I said. When I first looked at Jean-Paul Hévin, my jaw dropped. I thought I would die from a diabetic coma just by looking at everything they had on display. Chocolates, bars, macarons, and pastries. I blinked and rubbed my eyes. More

City Lounge: Paris (Book Three, Chapter Twelve: Simple Dinner in Paris)

Chapter Twelve: Simple Dinner in Paris:

Simone led us into the downtown part of Paris. I’ve seen this place before, but it never fails to surprise me.

“This never gets old,” I said. I pulled Simone close by the waist. “Lead the way.” I whispered above her head. My girl giggled as we walked down the street. We ended up at a restaurant called Il était Un Square.

“What do you think?” she asked. I blinked at first.

“Isn’t this a bit too…?” I began to ask.

“What?” she asked. I shook my head.

“No, it’s fine,” I said. Simone led me inside. The red paint on the walls made me feel a bit underdressed. My love didn’t seem to mind. I turned to her. More

City Lounge: Paris (Book Three, Chapter Five: Lunch on the River)

Chapter Five: Lunch on the River:

Around noon, Simone turned around with a smile on her face.

“Are you ready for lunch?” she asked. I raised my eyebrow.

“What do you have in mind?” I asked.

“Eating lunch on the Seine river,” Simone said. “We’ll see the view and enjoy a nice meal.”

“Oh?” I asked. I’ve heard of these type of tours, but I’ve never had the money or the time. She took me by the hand.

“My treat,” she said. Once again, her words put me back under her spell. I just had to see where this lunch on the Seine was going. More

Cooking with Noizchild

I have been thinking about doing some Asian cooking this summer. So far, I have made one dish three weeks ago. I made a dish called Curry Udon. It turned out pretty good. It can be found on the site, Just One Cookbook. I’ve also made some curry. Yesterday, although not an Asian dish, I roasted some pineapple. My mom enjoyed it and I think I will be making more in the near future. What am I making next? I plan on making chilled tofu, also found on Just One Cookbook. I just need to try and get all my ingredients together. I’ll have to get you the pictures later. For now, look at the pictures of all the dishes I made in the past and…

City Lounge: Paris (Book Two, Chapter Eleven: Cafe Work Day)

Chapter Eleven: Cafe Work Day:

The next day, I awoke to my cell phone buzzing. I grumbled to myself as I reached around for it. Oh come on! It’s my day off. Can’t you let me sleep in and call in someone else to work?

“Hello?” I asked.

“Will!” a familiar voice filled my ears. “We’re in big trouble! Come down and help us out!” I sat up with big eyes.

“Simone?” I asked. “What’s the problem?”

“We have a full lunch shift at Mama’s cafe today,” she said. “We’re going to need all of the help that we can get!” Just like that, I was under her spell. More

City Lounge: Paris (Book Two, Chapter Seven: Cooking Therapy)

Chapter Seven: Cooking Therapy:

Over the past few days, I have been learning how to cook the French way. It’s actually helped me get over Paula, really. (I don’t know what to do fully make of the Simone situation, but that’s not the focus today.) I have come to enjoy shopping in the markets. I was missing out on this? Plus, I am saving money too? Sweet!

I started off with that fruit salad.

“You do know all of the basics of cooking with fruit, right?” Simone asked.

“Of course,” I said. “Don’t you have to wash it, peel it, and all that?” More

I was Off-Focus Last Week

Last week, I could not focus on my writing. I have no idea what happened. I either found myself bored with the draft or I was too busy. I had two birthdays to celebrate last week. (My grandfather and my mother’s). My work wasn’t as great as I wanted it to be. Somehow, the distractions will probably carry over into this week too if I am not careful. Still, I will try to stay on task and get them done on time. More

Sayonara 2015!

This marks the last entry of this blog for 2015. I still can’t believe that this year is almost over. Anyway, I only have to big goals for 2016:

  • Find myself a developmental editor
  • Promote myself more

I will need a little help with the first goal. Does anyone know where to start? Please send me your comments. I will look for an editor for a reasonable price with high skills. I can do the second goal by myself.

Other than that, I will watch Clockwork Orange, wear my kimono, have Japanese food, and bake cookies on Thursday. Oh yeah more writing. Right now, I’m going to wrap up and go to bed. Night.

Delayed Again *Sigh*

I didn’t get to make a post last night because I was Christmas shopping and visiting my great-grandmother. Anyway, I am in a downpour. It’s not snow, but the ground will be damp enough for the snow to stick. It’s still too warm! I want to be cold in the winter! I don’t live in the Southern Hemisphere!

Anyway, my shopping is done. (Yay!) Too bad there isn’t much to watch on TV these days. (Then again, who’s really watching TV around Christmastime?)

I guess I will talk about my goals for 2016 next week as it will be the last Monday of 2015. Why are good beta readers so hard to find?  Seriously, I just want to get some stories finished and up. (They’ve been in limbo for too long, you know what I mean?) I guess I’ll keep fishing.

I don’t have much else to say other than I can’t wait for Christmas. The gifts, sweets, reactions to gifts, food, Christmas lights, etc.

Back On Track!

Did everyone have a good Thanksgiving yesterday? Mine was pretty decent. Dinner was delicious. No Asian food this year, but I made green bean casserole and butter pecan cookies. My grandmother had me use frozen green beans instead of canned. It was good, but the texture felt kind of weird. My cookies were a hit. My mother’s coworkers want some.

Today, I finally got a new phone. I needed one so badly too. (My previous one kept dying on me and it would cut off when I would drop it and the battery would pop out.) I’m just waiting for my case to come in now.

The editing for Fall Semester is going wonderfully. I have gotten through seven chapters already. I plan to work on chapters eight through eleven tomorrow. It looks like it will probably be early December or Sunday to  Monday when Fall Semester will be published. Also, tonight I will finish a fanfic that I had worked on for a long time. I have finished a couple of works this year. I wonder how I will do next year.
