My Week in Hell

It’s been a week since my last post on here. I don’t have a new chapter or ASMR script this week. There is no easy way of saying this: I have Type 2 diabetes. It all started with my vision earlier last month. I could see clearly in the foreground but the background was blurry. So, I went to the eye doctor. I got new glasses to help me see better. I thought that everything was fixed from there.

But then I had a yeast infection. I tried to treat that but I was getting nowhere. Then, I started drinking a whole lot of water. I feared that I was turning into a diabetic. Pretty soon, I was tired all the time. All I wanted to do was sleep. I couldn’t muster up the energy to write. I didn’t have much of an appetite. It felt like forcing myself to eat. When I did eat, I ended up throwing up. My mother asked why I was breathing heavily. I was getting winded just by getting up to go to the bathroom. My heart was pounding against my chest. It was a nightmare.

By Thursday, I wanted some antibodies or to go to the doctor. I ended up going to the hospital. I was diagnosed with type II diabetes. I stayed four days in the hospital just to get right again. (That was my first time in the hospital too.) I came home on Monday. So now, I will have to manage my blood sugar, diet, and way of life. Right now, my vision is far-sighted. I can see far away but it’s blurry in the foreground. My sugar is a bit high but I am trying to get it down to 200. Wish me luck. And while you’re at it…

I Need to Stop Being Lazy

My work needs to be edited. But I need money to do that. I need to look for a full-time job. I need to take more writing jobs. I need to gather up what I want published. I need to manage my time better. I need to start taking editing jobs as well. I need to join a writing community. I need to build up connections with my writing. I just need to stop being so lazy.

Maybe I will try to do all of that since we are all stuck indoors for the summer.

Wish me luck.

Sweetest Clap Back Ever!

A little bit of context: I am subscribed to the website A.Word.A.Day. It’s just as what it sounds. You get a word from Monday through Friday. And the words are all tied into a theme. (This week they are doing words that have “h-” in them.) Now, I always copy the word and definition in a Google doc. A nice little vocabulary page if you will.

Last week, they did words that related to hands. Monday’s definition was about being or getting married. They usually have a picture accompanying the word to the side. For this word, they had a lesbian couple getting married. Of course, you always end up with some homophobic idiot complaining. That dishonor belongs to a man named Mart Goodman who had the nerve to say this:

From: Mart Goodman (mart.goodman austin.rr.com)
Subject: Monday’s photo

I don’t appreciate the times you try and get political — as in the, occasional, “Thought for the day” or today’s photo. You could have made your point just as easily with the picture of a heterosexual couple’s vows. I will be unsubscribing. Your words for the day are always interesting but I tire of your moralizing. Not all of us out here agree.

Uh… why are you even caring about the pictures anyway, dude? Who cares about what type of couple it is? The point is to get a shiny new word for five days a week. But don’t worry, the web admin clapped back with this:

Two people loving each other, not hurting anyone. Too much for you? Come to the 21st century some time. We may have other problems, but it’s less bigoted here.

I Have So Many Questions

What about the graduates?

Will they get their diplomas in the mail?

What about the movies?

They have all been canceled, put on streaming, or pushed back.

My vacation got pushed back from June to I don’t know when.

All of the ladies have let themselves go for weeks now.

Sports are canceled.

Big life events are pushed back.

We can’t go in and eat.

Kids are out of school.

They have to learn online or their parents have to teach them.

Travel shows look awkward.

The news and late-night shows are done from home now.

People have no jobs or have to work from home.

Stage plays are also canceled.

The whole world is closed.

How long will this last?

I do not know.

I will just sit here and write.

Status Update

Yes, we are all stuck indoors until further notice. I am still writing as usual. I am trying to get back to my Sims game again. My class has pretty much gone up in smoke. It can’t be taught online. (It’s a hands-on class.) Schools got closed down for the teachers in a couple of days. It’s just really nuts right now.

My cooking is still going well. I don’t know what I am doing this week. I might have enough ingredients to do it. I am still walking and I will expand my route on Wednesday. I will get back to looking for a job again. I think I will get lucky due to the current situation.

I am not going to enjoy April, AKA the Slog. The world being shut down will make it worse. But I will try and get through this. I still have my writing and Sims. Plus, there are plenty of things to watch on streaming apps/sites. And I have my podcasts. I know you will get through this all the same. And do me a favor and…

I am Insane

This past Saturday, I came to a realization.

I was insane in the early stages of building my website. It’s a nightmare and time consuming to fix all of the pictures that I had on Photobucket. What possessed me to have so many pictures for certain anime characters? I can when I was on a kick for a certain anime/character. I was really insane in those days. It can’t be helped now. It’s done now.

Anyway, my class is pretty over due to being on lockdown until May. (It was a nine-week hands-on class. Yeah, that can’t be worked online.) That plan went up in flames. I will still have to look for a job. That’s not stopping. Other than that, I am still writing and playing Sims. I’m in good health too. Just the seasonal couch, though.

Oh and I got to see Office Space last night. I can see why it’s a cult classic. People can relate to it. There’s no gross humor. It’s actually pretty smart. Sure that is one shot of boobs on the TV but that doesn’t linger on. There is a little of a race gag but it doesn’t go on too long. I want to watch it uncut now. I give it 9/10.

That’s it for now. The self-isolation goes on.

Chapter Five: Job Interview:

-Sophie-

I stood in front of the building. This was it. My heart pounded against my chest. One step and I will move forward into a new career. My fingers touched the glass. A shiver ran through my body. Why am I getting so nervous? I shook my head. Get over yourself! Just do it! I took in a breath.

Right.

I pushed open the door and walked inside. That old breeze hit me in the face. I could barely see anything at first through narrowed eyes. When I got a better look, I became puzzled. When did I get underwater? I had never seen walls this blue before. There had to be at least twenty shades of blue everywhere. Little silver fish hung from the ceiling. Boats were painted closer to said ceiling. Even the rugs were fish-shaped. More

I Have a Goal for April

I finally have a goal for April 2020. I will at least try to have a stable job by the end of next month. I have already started looking too. I don’t know exactly what I want yet but I need the money. Not just for my writing career but to be more independent. Wish me luck on landing something. I really need it.

I made beef curry last week and it was best. I used Golden Curry. You can pick that up at your local grocery store or at any Asian store. Just follow the directions on the box. Yes, they come in English too. English and Japanese. I don’t know what I am cooking this week. I left it up to my mother to decide. Walking is going great for me. I get like up to 2,000 steps a morning. It’s not much but it’s a start.

So yeah, I came up with a new goal for the month of April. Like I said before, wish me luck. While you are at it…

I Had to Drop it

Ever had a podcast that you tried to get into but just couldn’t? That happened to me. I was listening to this podcast called Astonishing Legends since last month. It’s about horror, strange cases, and the paranormal. I first heard about it from the YouTube channel, Paranormal Scholar. I decided to give it a shot after And That’s Why We Drink. It was fine at first. But then I got bored. It’s too dry for me. Sure, they play sound effects while they tell the story but that’s not enough to make up for the fact that some of the episodes are two to three hours. I really did try but I couldn’t do it. So today, I dropped it. Now, I will try out No Sleep and Stories with Sapphire.

Cooking is still going well. I didn’t get to make the daikon salad but I made white wine and garlic chicken. It turned out great. I might have to make it again. I used chicken thighs instead of breasts. (My mom likes dark meat.) Grandma and mom liked it too. The recipe is here: https://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/white-wine-garlic-chicken/

I started walking again. I don’t know what I am doing for April’s goals. I moved forward with my job searching. I still have to do more. My birthday is coming up tomorrow too. I will have a good time while you…

Progress Report

February is finally coming to an end. (It went on too long for me.) How did I do? Let’s see, shall we?

Cooking: It’s getting better. What am I cooking this week? Daikon salad. I don’t know what I am doing next week. I have some idea but I might go with an alternative instead. I will have to see. Here is the recipe for daikon salad: https://www.justonecookbook.com/daikon-salad-radish-salad/

Shopping: I have been consistent. I have used my local Asian grocery rather impressively. I think I like going out to shop for things I need for cooking.

Classes: Going well. I just need to stop dozing off in class and buying snacks from the vending machine. It’s not boring, it’s just I am usually sleeping around the afternoon.

Writing Career: Still working on it. I still need the money and to pick out what I want to publish. Let’s look at the next item on the list.

Job Hunting: It’s coming together. I have listed all of the tasks that I will do with my grandma. Tomorrow, I will list what days I will do them.

Overall: Another month of going forward. I can’t wait for March. I will get back into walking on Sunday again. I will keep up with the other stuff as well. In the meantime, you can…
