City Lounge: Berlin (Book Three, Chapter Six: High-Class Party)

Chapter Six: High-Class Party:

Sometimes, I like things with high-class. Sebastian doesn’t fail to deliver either. He leaned down to my ear as I wished that I could disappear into the sand after that game.

“I’ll make it up to you tomorrow night,” he whispered. I glanced up at him, wide-eyed.

“What?” I mouthed.

“Em!” I heard Stephanie shout. “Your turn!”

“Huh? Oh,” I said. I sat up and looked around. I finally settled on Meg. I turned in Sebastian’s arms.

“How many men have you slept with?” I asked. I don’t know why I asked that. It just slipped out. Maybe it was the alcohol. Meg broke into a huge smile like a drunk clown.

“Not telling,” she said.

“You can’t do that!” I said. We all stared at her. I held up my beer.

“Answer the question,” I said. Meg held up her own beer.

“None,” she said. I raised my eyebrow.

“What?” I asked.

“I sleep with women,” she said.

“Oh,” I said. Meg smiled at me like she wanted to eat me. Sebastian wouldn’t let me go after her response. Stephanie reached for another beer in the cooler. The rest of the night was spent drinking and playing more drinking games. I think Stephanie and I went home around six. I don’t know, I  just know that we slept in the taxi.

The next day, I got a text just before heading out to work. I was about to step out the door when my phone buzzed. When I looked at the screen, my heart did little flips in my chest.

“Come out with me to the Watergate tonight,” it read. Is this Sebastian making it up to me? I quickly hit reply.

“What for?” I typed. He was quick to reply back.

“I want to make up for last night. What do you say?”

I smiled as I started typing. “Sure. Is it fancy?”

“Yes.”

Oooo. “When are you are you picking me up?” I waited until I got one more reply.

“How does seven sound?”

I smiled as I typed in my reply. “Great. Love you!” After three kissing emojis, I hit send. I smiled like I was flying as I made my way into the city.

For the whole day, I could not wait. It helped that I didn’t have to work today. But, I still couldn’t stop smiling as I walked around market. Right, I was supposed to be shopping for food for the week. I have grown to love this European street markets. They always have something fruit on display. Back in America, supermarkets were the thing. Today, it just doesn’t feel right to be shopping in them on a weekly basis. I only go shopping in a supermarket during the holidays. Speaking of which, Halloween is coming up in a few weeks. I have no idea what I am doing then.

After I make my purchases, I head home. Maybe I should go out and pick up some lunch. I am about to head out the door again when my phone rings.

“Hello?” I asked.

“Em!” Stephanie cheered on the other line.

“Yes, Steph?” I asked.

“Crazy night, right?”

“Yeah. What do you want?”

“Not much. I just want to talk to you.”

How boring is her day? “Okay. About what?”

“Nothing much. Just feel like talking to you.”

“Right. I don’t have work today.”

“Nice. I would long to hang out with you, but the troupe and I are working a play for Halloween.”

“What kind of play?”

“A short horror piece. It’s nothing big. It’s an outdoor thing if the weather permits.”

“I see. I’ll have to see if I come out and watch.”

“What are you doing this evening?”

I leaned against the door frame and smiled. “I’m going on a date with Sebastian tonight. We’re going to the Watergate.”

Steph whistled over the phone. “Wow!”

“I know. Really fancy place.”

“Lucky!”

We practically talked on the phone until about one. After about five minutes of saying goodbye, I went back out for lunch.

When seven came around, I looked all dolled up in a cute silver and white short dress with my hair in a fluffy ponytail. Sure, it’s a dance club, but I just wanted to look a little classy. This time, I put on make-up. Not too much, but even I couldn’t tell that I was wearing any. I looked up when I heard the door buzz.

“I’ve got it!” I shouted. I ran down to the front door. Sebastian stood outside with a bouquet of flowers in his hand.

“Hi,” I said.

“Hello,” he said. I leaned up and kissed him.

“You look beautiful,” he said.

“Thank you,” I said. “How are you tonight?” I could’ve sworn that he was an angel under the apartment lighting.

“I’m good,” Sebastian said. “How about you?”

“Good,” I said.

“Ready to go?” He held out his hand. My cheeks turned a light pink as I let a giggle slip.

“Why yes,” I said. I took him by the arm and he led me away.

———-

The line to get into Watergate circled the whole block. I bit my lower lip as I looked at the people looking and waiting to get in. Sebastian squeezed my hand.

“I’m not sure we can get in,” I whispered.

“It’s okay,” he said. “I know some of the people working on staff here. You just let me do all of the talking.” Sebastian led me along to a free space in the line. I do not doubt his skills, but I do not know how we are going to pull this off on a packed Saturday night. I looked behind me at all of the people lining up behind us. I wish you luck, my love.

Sebastian and I made it up to the bouncer. The big muscled man with the short blonde hair looked up. He lowered his black sunglasses.

“Hello, Daniel,” Sebastian said. “How have you been, man?”

“Not too bad,” the big bouncer said. He took a look over at me. “This your new girlfriend?” Sebastian grabbed me by the waist.

“Yes,” he said. “We’re on a date tonight and I wanted to get in and let her enjoy this club, if you don’t mind.” Daniel opened the rope and let us in. I looked around as Sebastian pulled me along into the club. I couldn’t believe that actually worked.
