Controversial Album Covers VIII (Pt. IV)

Year: 1986

Styper: To Hell with the Devil

The Problem: The album’s original artwork depicted the devil being thrown into a fiery pit by a group of long-haired angels. After the artwork caused a torrent of controversy, it was replaced on later pressings to a basic black cover with the classic band logo and the album title in the center.

My Take: I don’t see what the problem is. I thought that angels kicking the devil’s ass was welcomed. In fact, the churches should be applauding this cover. I’m guessing no? Oh well, not to be, I suppose.
