Controversial Album Covers V (Pt. 3)

Year: 1975

Pink Floyd: Wish You Were Here

The Problem: The cover shows a photograph of a man in a suit shaking hands with a man on fire. Many music stores refused to sell the album because of the cover and said that the cover was “too violent”. The cover was changed on many reissues showing a black background with the four elements sticker used on the back cover of the 1992 reissue.

My Take: Really? That’s their reason for selling this album? This is what they call “too violent?” There’s no blood, there’s no act of violence. It’s just two guys shaking hands with one guy on fire. The cover fits Pink Floyd’s weird artistic style. People in the seventies need to lighten up. On a lighter note, I have this exact album cover as wallpaper on my cell phone. (I also have “Dark Side of the Moon”‘s cover in phone as well.)
