Controversial Album Covers V (Pt. 2)

Year: 1973

Led Zeppelin: House of Holy

The Problem: The cover features a group of naked children climbing at Giant’s Causeway. The interior art also depicts a distant figure of a naked man standing on mossy ruins while holding one of the children in a ceremonial gesture. Although the album was originally released with the nudity intact, subsequent editions distributed by Atlantic Recordscensored one of the naked children’s buttocks with the “Led Zeppelin Houses of the Holy” text printed on a white background. The buttocks were later airbrushed out.

My Take: I’ve seen the interior art; that and this cover don’t portray anything sexual. To tell you the truth, I thought they were a bunch sea creature coming up from the ocean. There really isn’t much to see with this one. So, I don’t see that big deal.
