Controversial Album Covers Pt. 27

Year: 1997

Aerosmith: Nine Lives

The Problem: The original cover aroused the anger of some Hindus who felt the artwork, taken from Hindu imagery and altered by giving the dancing figure a cat’s head, was offensive. The band, who had been unaware of the source of the artwork, and record company apologized, and changed the artwork.

My Take: This one actually looks neat! Too bad that Hindus didn’t like this artwork. It’s ironic because they still sold the album in India. They should have kept the original and the alternative covers. Both of them look pretty good.

Master P: Ghetto D

The Problem: The original album cover was pulled from the shelves deemed inappropriate. It depicted a crack addict sitting on the curb smoking from a glass pipe. It was promptly replaced by a collage style cover.
My Take: Not much to say for this one. It’s a guy smoking a pipe.  I don’t know. Make up your own joke for this one!
